In February 2015 lawyer Janneke Boerman and I won the price ‘Haagse Vernieuwers’. With this subsidy we started the startup VisueleVoorwaarden (VisualTerms) and did research on how consumers perceive and handle privacy on the internet, using contextmapping techniques, co-creation sessions and prototype testing. Based on these insights we made several prototypes to make the privacy statement of Facebook easier to understand and more approachable (prototype A, prototype B, scenario ‘What does Facebook know when you upload a photo?’, scenario ‘What does Facebook know when you play a quiz?’ and the final prototype). We also prototyped the privacy statement of VisueleVoorwaarden itself (web version, mobile version).
Here you can find the report and insights of this project (in Dutch).
